“As a TUPE staff, I was concerned”

Sebastian, you had been working in Highfield Healthcare for 12 years. Then in 2019, Neylons Facility Management took over the cleaning contract. What was your first reaction?
When I was informed about the transfer, I was shocked and I didn’t know what to expect.

We can imagine that you and your colleagues had a lot of concerns. What was most challenging for you?
Like most of my colleagues in Highfield Healthcare, I was wondering how this transfer will affect me personally. It was a new situation for us. Mostly we were worried about possible changes in rosters, working hours and contracts. We were also concerned that we could be moved to a different facility.

Thank you for sharing that with us. What did reassure you?
At our first meeting with Neylons representatives and HR manager, they explained that our contracts would not change at all! They also assured us that we would have an individual meeting to make sure that we had all the information needed.

How did you overcome any challenges/concerns you faced with the transfer?
As Neylons reassured me that my contract would not change, I was quite positive about the transfer. They also mentioned Neylons Academy for Growth, which is held every year, so I was hoping to get the opportunity to participate in it.

Things have changed for you this year. Congratulations! You are also attending Neylons Academy for growth this year. Do you feel this programme is helping you in your role?
I am really happy that I was promoted as a site manager and nominated for Neylons Academy for Growth. This programme is helping me to develop myself. I’ve learned a lot of new things and I also feel more confident in my new role. I really appreciate being part of the Academy.

What would you like to say to any staff who is concerned about transferring to Neylons?
I would say to give it a chance! In my case new was better. Neylons is a trustworthy company where you can grow your career. The benefit of Academy for Growth is a big advantage.
