What is air testing and validation?
There is an international standard for the levels of particulate in the air within clean rooms. This considers many factors but notably the standards provides classes which limit the levels of airborne particulate. The standard, ISO 14664, provides classes that have been adopted by architects, engineers and equipment manufacturers as a suitable level for critical environments such as sever rooms and data centres. There are 9 classes, of which class 8 is the most commonly specified class.

Class 8 limits the particulate levels for three sizes of particulate: 0,5 micron, 1 micron and 5 micron. The number of particles allowable per cubic metre are 3,520,000: 832,000 and 29,300 respectively.

How is this achieved?
Neylons Facility Management use a state of the art Lighthouse Solair 5100 + air particulate reader to measure levels in a defined number of locations within a room. The number of readings carried out, is based on the area of the room which is entered into a formula. This data is downloaded from the machine in spreadsheet form. A visual inspection of all surfaces is carried out and any issues with the room are noted down.

What we can offer
We can offer this procedure as a one-off service for free, as part of a survey when we quote for cleaning your room. We are able to then include the room validation as part of a technical cleaning package, testing is carried out before and after our clean. We can also provide this as an independent validation service. You will be provided with a certificate of conformity to the standard and a report including the data in tabulated and graphical form.
