15 questions with Dan Dumitrache, Key Account Manager

Dan Dumitrache

Thank you Dan for meeting up with us. Could you tell us a bit about yourself?

My work experience varies. The most interesting experience I had was in IT and Sales. While working in IT, I’ve had the opportunity to learn to work in AutoCAD, build servers, Webdesign and grow online sales. It came together with my sales representative experience where I developed my customer interaction skills and sales presentation.

With Neylons, I’ve started working almost 6 years ago and it has been a constant learning curve where I’ve had the opportunity to step into different positions. I started as a general operative in Galway and got the chance to prove myself as Facility Coordinator, Maintenance Manager, Facility Manager, Housekeeping Manager and with my latest promotion currently as Key Account Manager for East.

I can only be thankful for the trust and support I’ve received within Neylons Facility Management from the founder, CEO and Directors.

1. Why did you choose to work with Neylons?

Neylons is the only company I’ve worked with in Ireland. I was looking for a company where I can upskill and grow professionally.

2. What motivates you to wake up and go to work?

Every day for me is a new learning opportunity! It’s also rewarding to see that all my hard work and perseverance are being recognised and appreciated.

3. What does a typical day at work look like for you?

One of my favourite quotes is ‘’Whoever rises first, gets the furthest’’, so early mornings are the way to start. Really important for me is a good organisation, so I start my day by scheduling the tasks that I can control. Customer feedback, checking with the staff, resolve work orders/emails, and whatever comes my way as staff requests, customer requests, interviews…. just to count a few of the daily tasks.

 4. What is your proudest moment at Neylons?

I’m very proud of my work as part of the mobilisation team for several new clients.  And the latest achievement within the company for me was stepping into the new role as Key Account Manager for East.

5. What is the most important thing you have learned in the last five years?

What I’ve learned in the past years is how important it is to have a great team working together. Also, as for everything, all skills can be improved over time. For me, public speaking in large gatherings was hard to overcome.

6. If you could learn to do anything, what would it be?

Professionally, I would like to obtain an advanced diploma in Excel. Personally, it has always been a dream of mine to learn to play the piano.

 7. What’s something most people don’t know about you?

I consider myself to be an introvert and large crowds still make me nervous and I must overcome the emotions every time.

 8. What would be three words to best describe you?

Motivated, dependable, resourceful.

 9. If you were stuck on an island, what three things would you bring?

It really depends on the location of the island…. but If I were to wait for help, I would bring a tarp, a machete and flint.

10. What is your feel-good song?

Peaceful Easy Feeling – Eagles

11. What do you like to do on your days off?

Spend time with my family and have day trips.

12. Motto or personal mantra?

Road trip the 50 states of USA

14. What is your hidden talent?
